Privacy Policy
A plain-language explanation of what information this site collects, why, and how you can ask us to remove it.
What Is Cost Seg is an educational resource on cost segregation for real estate owners and investors. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use this site, how we use it, and what choices you have. We wrote it the same way we write everything else on this site: honestly and without legal boilerplate you'd need a dictionary to get through.
What Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways. The first is anything you give us directly. If you fill out the contact form on this site, we collect your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, and whatever message you type into the form. We don't ask for anything beyond what's needed to respond to you and, where relevant, connect you with our partner cost segregation provider.
The second is information collected automatically by any web host or server, whether you interact with a form or not. This includes standard server and hosting logs, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit. This is routine technical logging that essentially every website on the internet generates, and it is not tied to your name unless you've also submitted a form.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you submit through the contact form for two purposes: to respond to your question directly, and, when your situation genuinely fits what our partner provider handles, to facilitate an introduction to that provider. If we make that introduction, your message and contact details are shared with the partner provider only for that purpose, and only when we're making an actual referral on your behalf, not as a blanket data-sharing arrangement. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not rent, trade, or otherwise share your contact information for marketing purposes unrelated to the purpose you submitted it for.
Analytics
As of the date at the top of this page, this site does not run any analytics platform. We have not yet decided whether to add one. If that changes, we'll update this policy to describe what's added and what data it collects before it goes live, not after.
Cookies
This site does not currently set tracking cookies. Your browser may still store small amounts of technical data locally, such as remembering that you've dismissed a banner, but nothing here is used to track you across other websites. If that changes in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect it.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep contact form submissions only as long as reasonably needed to respond to your message and, if applicable, complete a referral to our partner provider. We don't hold onto old inquiries indefinitely once that purpose has been served.
Your Rights
If you've submitted the contact form and want your information deleted, email us at whatiscostseg@gmail.com and we'll remove it. There's no form to fill out to make that request. A short email is enough.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves, particularly if we add analytics or change how the contact form works. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
